What is Freestyle Fitness Boot Camp?
This weekend is boot camp registration and we are gearing up for the next session to be another great one. So far since 2012 Freestyle Fitness & Nutrition has helped our clients lose over 3000 lbs. It’s tremendous for me to facilitate and be a part of the human element of a weight loss journey. The journey is not always 100 lbs. long. Often some just want to lose 20 lbs. They are able to get it done because of the supportive environment boot camp provides.
Not A Military Styled Boot Camp
During regular classes clients often come to me and ask ” What is Boot Camp? That’s a really good question. Let me answer it from my perspective or rather the Freestyle Fitness & Nutrition perspective. My boot camp is 90% indoors 10% outdoors. This is not traditional, as most boot camps are primarily outdoors. My boot camp mixes traditional calisthenic and body weight exercises with interval training, dance fitness, water aerobics and strength training. My boot camp is designed in a way that pushes the participants harder than they’d push themselves and, in that way, resembles a military boot camp in a sense that it is focused, driven and continuous motion for the entire hour.
During the 4 week session, you’ll get up early to participate in a different class everyday. You’ll perform lots of push ups and various forms of plyometric and interval training with little rest between exercises, ALL MODIFIED IF NECESSARY TO YOUR ABILITY. There’s a ton of muscle confusion. You get a low-cost, efficient and challenging workout. I modify the exercise for every camper, so you can get fast results. Freestyle Fitness boot camps have a supportive and motivational community of like-minded people. Everyone starts out in a different space. You are challenged from where YOU are and NOT in competition with anyone else in boot camp. Basically you can “DO YOU”. But don’t think for a moment that excuses are accepted. If you have an issue with limited mobility, well that’s something different, but if you are having difficulty wrapping your mind around an activity there is plenty of motivation and assistance to get you over your threshold.
Now if you’re looking for some gimmick like a shake, a pill, a shot in the butt, something to wrap around your body then this boot camp is NOT for you. Gimmicks do not teach you how to exercise and how to love it. Gimmicks do not teach you how to eat to live. Gimmicks are a part of the “Go on a diet” industry that preys upon your inability to create a lifestyle plan that is suitable for you using all the megabytes of information that are circulated by the multi billion dollar weight loss industry. My philosophy is simple. Eat the food that God gave you and move your body while confusing the hell out of your muscles. What I have is sound nutrition, a variety of fitness specialties, excellent instructors, and a loving environment to support your weight loss.
The standard for my fitness boot camp offers all or most of the following:
- A small group environment (10 -20 people).
- An indoor and outdoor space.
- Orientation – Registration includes setting up your profile (NO PAPERWORK, everything is on applications and totally 21st century) reviewing the class rules and safety guidelines, meal plan and performing a basic fitness assessment.
- Warm Up – Each session starts with a 12 minute warm up.
- Workout – The 30-40 minute workout will typically include:
- Tabata Fitness
- H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training)
- Dance Fitness
- Kettle bells
- Weight training
- Aqua Zumba
- Zumba Toning
- KANGOO DANCE
- KANGOO BOOTCAMP
- Zumba Step
- YOGA including HOT YOGA
- Mat Pilates and Power Pilates
- Cardio Blast
- Team competitions
- Partner exercises
- Obstacle courses
- Cool down and stretching. The session will end with some gentle stretching and possibly some education and homework.
- Fitness retesting. At the end of fitness boot camp, you will typically repeat the original fitness assessment to determine your results.
- a spirit of teamwork and group support and cohesion.
There’s something for everyone in boot camp. One of the things I am most proud of is the dedication and perseverance of boot campers who get started and embrace the Freestyle Fitness & Nutrition principles and apply them as instructed. These are the participants that reach their goals quickly. They came to get the job done. They were ready in their minds to make a change. When you come to boot camp leave behind everything you think you know. It is never the ones who come to boot camp with their own plan that find success. It is always the ones who come to boot camp thinking “Show Me How”.
Boot camp is a 20-day intensive body changing workout that includes a meal plan, counseling and assessment. It is like having a personal trainer in a group environment. You are not just a number, you are an individual. Each boot camp session cost $239. Clients who continue in boot camp and maintain consecutive participation for 3 months are grandfathered. Their boot camp fee is then reduced on the 4th month to $189 for as long as you attend consecutively.
