Just look at me now!. I was like many people who loved to eat and hated to exercise! Let me repeat, I HATED exercising. I joined every gym there was hoping to get motivated; I would attend for a short time but quickly became bored. Bored of the treadmill and tired of going to the gym full of strangers. At the same time, my weight began to steadily increase— 5, 10, 20 lbs…and I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. I knew I had to do something. Then, I discovered Zumba and the wonderful instructors at Freestyle Fitness.

The first time I attended class, I was in disbelief. I thought “this could not be exercising”…because it was fun. There was dancing and laughter—this was Zumba! I instantly fell in love and found myself eager to attend classes, several times a week. At Freestyle, I found a family, not strangers, who enjoyed being together. That was three months ago and now I’m 20 lbs lighter. I loved it so much that I, an avid non-exerciser, became a licensed Zumba instructor. I attended the Freestyle Fitness boot camp which reinforced the importance of nutrition in relation to exercise. What you put in your body is just as important as exercise.

As a licensed Psychologist, I understand the importance of how our mental state can impact our physical state and vice versa. If you think of exercise as boring and tedious, it will be difficult to commit to it. Zumba is different… affects your mood. It’s contagious! It makes you feel good and it moves you. This, in turn, makes you want to come back for more. So, if you were like me…..just look at me now! Come join me and the other wonderful instructors at Freestyle Fitness. We understand the struggle!
